I just love the tree in the background. The picture is so cold and snowy, makes me wonder what it would have been like around those two fireplaces...

It seems like such a privledge to be the first to walk along a path covered with the fresh fallen snow. This path is commonly used for mountain biking, and has a small rut down the middle of the trail. I assume that rut was a little wet, so the snow melted there, but stayed all around it. It left this attractive little trail down the fresh fallen snow...

After quite a delay in getting out and taking some shots, the first snowfall of the year really motivated me to get moving. This shot is taken outside the remains of the Decew House, as can be seen here. This shot is taken from roughly behind the historic plaque seen in the above mentioned photograph.

I just love this type of scenery. It's so quite, pure and peaceful. It's hard to see any real influence of mankind when everything is covered with snow....

Her Majesty's Canadian Ship Haida (HMCS Haida). Permanantly docked in Hamilton, the HMCS is one of the last remaining Tribal class destroyers remaining from WWII. Perhaps most notable for clearing the way prior to D-Day, however this ship has a rich history that led to it being one of the most famous of Canadian warships.

I thought the lens flare really added to this shot as it gave some foreground interest. Now if I could only figure out how to create that flare when I want it....

  <title>The Moon of Hamilton Harbour</title>

The Judge McCombs tugboat and the harbour masters boat up front, with all the luxury sailboats in the background. What initially caught my attention was all the colours in the trees in the background, across Hamilton Bay. Unfortunately, they didn't come out as I had hoped they would. I will have to play with this picture over the next few days, perhaps crop in a little closer to bring out the trees a little more. When I started to process this one though, that is when I noticed the Moon high in the sky and the bird in flight. Now really, how could I have cropped them out and still felt good about this photograph???

I have eyed this building for a long time, trying to decide just how and when to photograph it. It is actually the Peninsula Ridge Estate Winery building, which is located on the superb Beamsville Bench. The slope orientation, proximity to Lake Ontario and the soil of this location make it a premium location for growing the vinifera grapes used in wine production. The fall colours as a backdrop had me grabbing for my camera to get a few shots...

For more information about this Winery, visit the Peninsula Ridge Website.
